After the news arrived a few days ago that singer Ivano Fossati will put an end to his musical career, we at Freezone have met the artist during the presentation of "Decadancing," his latest CD and his autobiography "All of this future." On this occasion the artist told us that he is in fact not quitting music, but the craft, the discography, the album-promoting- tour mechanism as he absolutely does not want to continue repeating himself, touring and publishing cds to infinity.
The singer believes in "being an artist only as long as you have something to say, and leave the music industry before you risk becoming a copy of yourself", a lesson that many other artists and bands really should learn. In the meantime, fans will have the pleasure of listening to "Decadancing", his latest musical work.
Ivano Fossati has picked this title as the album is both a classic, marking a farewell of the type that the singer-songwriter is particularly good at giving, but also a record of strong contrasts.
Musically, "Decadancing" is very "linear", but also profound: a mixture of simple yet refined sounds, songs that seek the easiest way to deliver the message, but which do not fall into banality, whether they are up-tempo songs (“La sconosciuta”, “La normalità”) or ballads (the very beautiful and sad" Settembre" about the end of a love story). And then there's the interpretation, that way of delivering words that is specifically pertaining to Fossati, and that is the thing we perhaps will miss the most and we will go looking for in the future when listening to records like this one.
A way that makes the already strong stories unique as in “La normalità”, “Un natale borghese”, “Laura e l’avvenire”.
Together with his latest CD "Decadancing", Fossati is also publishing his autobiography “Tutto questo futuro”, which contains many photographs and was edited by reporter Renato Tortarolo.
The book accounts the singer-songwriter's whole life who, thanks to his passion for music has grown as a musician, but above all as a man.
