Last week, for FreeZone RadiostarTV's magazine, we met Luca Carboni during the presentation of his new album “Senza titolo” . - Hello Luca, five years after the presentation of the album “….le band si sciolgono" you are finally presenting your latest masterpiece: “Senza titolo” . Why did you decide to use this title?
First of all a big "hello" to all Freezone friends. Well, I chose this title in order not to influence the audience. I believe that the titles of the songs already convey the true meaning of the album.
- Why did you choose such a strong cover? A father holding his son's hand leading him towards the immensity of the sea?
Well, the father and the son on the cover are in fact me and my son, Samuele. The cover was inspired by the song “Senza Strade”, where a father holding his child's hand, leads him towards the sea. The sea has no roads, so the child understands that he will have to face this journey alone and will have find the route by himself, with a reliable mentor nevertheless. It's the icon of the father and son who look towards the future.
- The second track of the album, "Riccione-Alexanderplatz" is about the evolutions that the generation that grew up in the '80s has to face. You have summed up and....?
I realized that we haven't done anything since the first artistic flare of the '80s,. The song is a critique of my generation, a very enlightened, creative generation, which over the years has lost its way. I came to realize that we have all become many small isolated planets, each one in our home and we have not done anything in the arts, social and political field.
- So was the “Fisico Bestiale” (Amazing Body TN) more necessary in the 80s or specially now in 2011?
Today the “Fisico Bestiale” represents the inner strength you need in order to deal with everything that happens to you, but, to tell you the truth, it has always been necessary. There never has and never will be, an easy time!
- You decided not to put the lyrics in your album, but your personal notes. Why this choice?
So that the listeners could understand what mood I was in when I wrote the songs. These are notes that I jotted down in order to work on the lyrics, notes on my travels, about my moods, about everything that was revolving around my singer-songwriter soul.
- Thanks Luca for your time and your greatness of soul as a person and as an artist.
Thank you, and a big "bye" to all FreeZone friends.....
See you soon
