Interview to Simone Fornasari - Simone Fornasari! Tell our Radiostar friends who you are
Hello to all RadiostarTV friends! I am a simple boy, 29 years old totally addicted to music. I started writing songs at the age of 13 and music has always been my greatest source of energy and my greatest outlet! I started playing the guitar when I was home with the chickenpox. I asked my parents to buy me a guitar. Since then I have never abandoned this instrument. It allows me to put into music my most visceral emotions, and I can communicate who Simone Fornasari is.
- Tell us about your artistic career so far, including highs and lows.
I started writing music when I was still a child, but recording my first album hasn’t been easy as I was studying and working at the same time. I was in an band called "non pervenuto" but we did not last much. I toured the venues of the city and the province, performing some songs of my favorite artists and sometimes my own songs. Five years ago I produced my first EP, entitled: e comunque la vita è tutta un'altra cosa (yet life is another matter entirely NT). Then an important festival in Piacenza gave me the opportunity to present the live album with my band as opening act and in a few months, I distributed nearly 1000 copies. An unexpected goal! Almost by chance I enrolled in a contest organized by a popular radio station, coming first among the 600 artists who participated in the competition. I was lucky enough to open gigs for artists such as Irene Grandi, Nek, Stadio, Dolcenera, Modà. For two years, two of my songs were included in a compilation distributed throughout the nation, along with the hits of the moment. In 2010 "momentaneamente in equilibrio" ("momentarily in balance" NT) was published , and once again the sales exceeded all expectations!
- What is the genre that best represents you? Was it easy to establish yourself with your music in Italy?
I really love rock music and singer-songwriters, above all Battisti-Mogol. It is not easy in Italy, but I think that people perceive when you make music from the heart. You can not reach everyone, and the market is not helping. The emerging music gets almost no promotion by the labels.
- Do you like experimenting in order to get new sounds?
Yes! The new album, which will be out in May 2012, will clearly show how much I like experimenting with new sounds! Maestro Giancarlo Boselli, the artistic producer, is very competent and skillful, he is always looking for new sounds. All analog sounds, using the voices in a very particular way, but I can’t reveal anything else!
- What excites you more: the warmth of the audience or a masterful execution of one of your songs?
The audience’s warmth together with a masterful execution is priceless! I think that in order to get the warmth by the audience, the execution needs to be very soulful! It is better to be sincerely out of tune than delivering a complete artifact gift!
- What is RadiostarTV to you?
RadiostarTV is a great promotional channel that offers space and visibility to emerging artists. There aren’t many other realities like that, the music needs it and I can only say thank you for all you are doing!
- Tell us about the most successful promotional experience with your songs.
For someone who comes from the indie market, social networks can help a lot. But they are a bit too comfortable and scattered. Playing live and the god old word of mouth has worked very well for me!
- A taste, a sound and a fragrance that describes your music.
Freshly baked bread, it has a very strong fragrance and delivers a very strong vintage sound but absolutely fresh.
