Interview to Bandamariù - Bandamariù! Introduce yourself to all Radiostar Friends Hello, we are Bandamariù! Our main feature is the ability of playing whatever passes through our heads without any stylistic or structural constraint, keeping it playful and funny.
- Why did you choose this name? The name Bandamariù derives from "Parlami d'amore Mariù ( Tell me about love Mariù). Initially the band used to perform Italian songs from the beginning of the century. In time we have left the cafe chantant repertoire introducing our original songs.
- Who is part of the Bandamariù band? What is the genre that best represents you? The Bandamariu band is composed of musicians from various cultural backgrounds. The rhythm section comes from rock / blues, while I, Dedo, come from the conservatory, classical music therefore. I have previously worked with great conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Carlo Maria Giulini and Giuseppe Sinopoli. I subsequently left classical music to devote myself to jazz and pop music. I can't tell you what kind of music best represents us, I write the songs and my music heroes are: Frank Zappa, Jobim and Tchaikowskj.
-Do you like experimenting in order to get new sounds? Experimenting is important for us but instinct is even more. Many times an idea or a particular sound convinces us instantly without having worked too much on it and therefore we just jot it down without coming back to it later
- What moves you the most: the audience's warmth or the masterful execution of one of your songs? During live shows, the audience's warmth is fundamental, it gives us a boost. Moreover if the audience knows us and sings our songs it is really the best. We try to keep a high level during our performances, rehearsing very much and giving each other advice. During the live gigs everything changes, the emotion takes over and some imperfections show during the more complex songs. That's the beauty!
- Tell us about your most successful promotional experience. The most successful promotional experience for us are our live gigs and, consequently, the web. When people come to our gigs, our views on youtube multiply and this gives us confirmation that the promotion has occurred.
- A taste, a sound and a fragrance that describes your music It 's always hard to describe your own music or to make comparisons, I may take the risk of saying that our music has the flavor of love, the sound of real life and the fragrance of honesty
