It is an album to drive discontent and sadness away and make room for optimism: ‘Puro Spirito’ (Pure Spirit NT) the new album by Renato Zero.  The album contains the more poignant, ironic and transgressive songs from the artist's discography: seventeen songs that retrace the steps of the most irreverent and provocative Re dei Sorcini (Sorcini King NT), along with two previously unreleased songs “Sorridere sempre”, lyrics by Zero, and "Testimone" which marks the return of the collaboration with Mariella Nava.
"Pure Spirit" is available both on iTunes and other digital platforms (digital distribution Kiver / Tattica) and is part of a larger project through which the singer aims to re-read his entire artistic production, as well as re-publish every song on his freshly remastered catalog ( "Zero" and "Voyeur" have just been republished) looking for a common thread.
Last year it was the turn of love, with the album “Segreto Amore". This year it is the turn of irony, which, not coincidentally, Renato chose in this particular moment in history.
Songs that have become part of the collective heritage, which Zero also uses as a compass to remember the main steps of his musical career. The artist thus goes back in his own way to shaking the conscience with the same songs that almost 40 years ago had the courage to attack false modesty and prejudices of the time, but always smiling: “Sorridere sempre/ ostinatamente/ l’ottimismo serve/ è quella spinta in più/ se un volto si accende/ è un fatto importante/ il mondo si arrende/ se sorridi tu…/ abbasso i malinconici/ il pianto dei nostalgici/ i pessimisti cronici…/e chi non si ama più”"Always Smile / obstinately / optimism is needed / it is that extra push / if a face is turned on by a smile/ it is an important event/ the world doesn't give up/ if you smile ... / down with the melancholics/ down with the tears of the nostalgics / down with the chronic pessimists ... / and down with those we don't love themselves anymore ": “Sorridere sempre” , one of the two brand new songs, opens the album; it is an anthem to optimism and self-esteem, written by Zero on the music by Maurizio Fabrizio. The song "Testimone" contains the same positive assumptions but with a different declination and a different style and was written by his long time friend Mariella Nava: “Senza mai niente di intentato/ sfidarsi e andare avanti/ non indugiare non stancarti/ io sono dietro te/ vivi/ sono io il tuo testimone adesso/ vivi/ prendi tutto il tuo fiato i tuoi giorni il tuo tempo/ vivi/ il tuo cielo è un’agenda affollata di impegni/ io la matita per i tuoi disegni”.
