- Electra! Present yourself to the RadiostarTV friends Hello guys, we are ELETTRA, a classic rock band from Perugia in a typical trio formation: Michele Ciocconi on guitar / vocal, Eugenio Maglio on bass and Matteo Grandolini on drums. We just like to call ourselves a "rock" band, leaving to others the responsibility to track further definitions to explain our sound. We sing in Italian and have been around for about 2 years.
- Why did you choose this name?
The name "ELECTRA" was an old fix idea of Michele, the singer, who had always considered it a perfect name for a rock band: simple, straightforward and lyrically evocative, with an implicit reference to the "electric shock", the energy that underlies everything that is alive and pulsating.
- Tell us about your artistic career until now, ups and downs included.
The beginning was a bit complex because we have decided to grapple with new material quickly, skipping the usual running-in phase playing covers. Here was the main difficulty, namely the creation of the band's sound out of nothing, but this has also been the most important challenge and, we think, for now our most significant achievement.
- What is the genre that best represents you?Has it been easy to establish yourself with your music in Italy?
We have no real genre of reference, but we appreciate all the music which combines substance of content with formal elegance. Meaning everything meaningful and well done. A rarity, in times like these where experimentalism in most cases just end in itself.
- Do you like to experiment in order to get new sounds?
We don't like crooked, compulsive and self-congratulatory experimentation. We are interested in finding a sound suitable to the content of each song. In no context form and substance can be separated, especially not in music.
6) Tell us about you. Each group member will describe another.
Michele is the front man, and as such he is the voice and the face. Eugenio is the technician and the unexpected "stage animal" of ELETTRA, while Matteo is the engine and the "emotional supervisor " of the songs in progress. He is the one who has the say whether a song is catchy or not.
- What excites you the most: the warmth of the audience or a masterful execution of one of your songs? Why?
We play trying to really involve those who listen, constantly pursuing empathy with the audience and that makes the live performance our priority. Sometimes it is better to have some roughness in the execution, due to sweat and passion, rather than a sterile show-off of technique.
- What plans do you have for the future?
We are currently in the pre-production of our debut album. The culmination of more than 2 years of work and of live shows throughout Italy. A due and very strongly desired goal.
- A taste, a sound and a fragrance that describes your music.
The sudden roar of thunder in a summer afternoon, sea salt and a starry night.
