"The TalentFest - Festival of young talents" was broadcasted on RaiUno Saturday, September 3 at 9:20 p.m. The Festival, now at its second edition, was held at the Roman Theatre of Benevento and moderated by Eleanor Daniel. The event, conceived by the talent scout Dino Vitola, in collaboration with Cesare Lanza and Mafalda De Blasis Ratti has achieved for the second consecutive year an excellent result in terms of ratings, achieving the 15.46% share. During the evening the young talents have performed alongside many big names of the Italian music scene including: Toto Cotugno, Nichola di Bari, Sal Da Vinci, Umberto Balsamo, Jimmy Fontana, Ivana Spagna, Katia Ricciarelli and Massimo di Cataldo.
Guest of honour of the evening was the well know italian comedian, Paolo Villaggio, struggling with his very funny double. An important new feature introduced in the 2011 edition of the contest is the TalentFest NETVIDEOAWARD, designed and produced by RadiostarTV.
The NETVIDEOAWARD is an award offered to music videos of artists that are not related to majors. Musicians members of the Radiostar platform had the opportunity to present the candidacy of their video clips by enrolling in the section specifically designed for the prize on the www.radiostar.tv web site.
Among the numerous applications RadiostarTV site visitors have selected the best videos. Among the 10 top rated video clips the three finalists to win the NETVIDEOAWARD have been selected.
The finalists were:
"You Better Listen" by Sherrie Duran
“Dimmi che non c’è” ("Tell me that there isn't") by Helena
“Smettere” ("Stop") by Paul Cat
For the first time ever, three independent music videos have been aired on RaiUno, and as the Director Giles Lofrano says: "This is proof that RadiostarTV is committed to provide space for independent music not only through the web, but also through the traditional media. NETVIDEOAWARD is a competition born on the Internet which has given the opportunity to all network users to vote for their favorite artists. The award-winning music video of the competition was however broadcasted on the first italian network RAI, which testifies a growing convergence between new media and traditional media. In the splendid setting of the Roman Theatre of Benevento the artistic committee, headed by Cesare Lanza, has presented the award to the band Helèna.
The band is composed of five young musicians: Luca Matteucci on drums, Mirko Mancini on guitar, Roberto Battilocchi on bass, Dominic Labanca on keyboards. The lead singer is Raffaele Vinaccia.
Their project was born naturally and spontaneously on the wave of fun. All five band members are however aware that studying music is a fundamental part for the success of their performances. The band Helèna has their roots in the Italian pop music of the 90s, seasoned with a pinch of Rock; this mix creates a very suggestive mood and allows the band to express themselves fully.
The name Hèlena derives from Helen - the daughter of Zeus- and it means splendor. The band brings out the different musical styles of all the members; the harmonious and wise blend of sounds allows their songs to be pleasant even to the most refined palates. The band has produced their first album and has been considerably successful in various national events.
With its 2,515,000 viewers The "TalentFest 2011" has confirmed itself to be a very successful format, able to ferry RaiUno to the new television season.
