Amidst is an up and coming band from Los Angeles with a fresh sound that is intended for a diverse crowd. Their first album, Never Better Than Nothing, was release in the spring of 2010. Following the release were performances at festivals such as the Sonogram Fest opening for international acts KORN and Cypress Hill, and EXA Concierto.
The band members are Jon Marquez (piano and vocals), Michel Denegri (bass), Fernando Torreblanca (drums), Alex Bajos (guitar), and Luis Torreblanca (guitar). Amidst explodes with energetic bass lines, powerful drums, driving guitar riffs, soaring piano melodies, and inspiring vocals. The band members have a great mutual understanding of each other's musical creativity and each member has contributed to the writing and/or producing of the album.
The album features special guests, Carlos Chairez (guitarist for Kinky) and Pablo Hopenhayn (violinist for Julieta Venegas). It was mixed by Grammy Award nominee Mark Needham who has worked with the likes of The Killers, Chris Isaac, Blondie, and Fleetwood Mac among many others.
Amidst is currently planing a tour and continues to promote their album Never Better Than Nothing while diligently working to finish their new album.
